Aprill 2022

CNHS update April 2022

Sitting here watching the snow streak past the window and watching my flowers cowering from the cold and wind and remembering that last week was glorious Spring!!.

We must hope for better things next Sunday 10th April when we are invited to Tice’s meadow for some spring bird watching with Richard and Mark. This is an interesting area which many birds visit through the year and well worth a visit.

Meet at 10.30am near Pea bridge, Badshot Lea Rd, Aldershot/Tongham (B3208)  The parking is on the road.            https://www.google.com/maps/place/Tice's+Meadow+Nature+Reserve/@51.2315782,-0.759447,16.43z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x1d7baad82facb3ab!8m2!3d51.2328375!4d-0.7589062

But if you could let me know if you are able to attend please as it makes my negotiating so much easier. Thank you and look forward to seeing some of you next week.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been twice to Aldershot for tree planting and, with a day in Frimley Green, together I helped plant about 1,300 small trees which will become wildlife hedgerows.

Another project that got completed was the erection of the Swift nest box on Moor Green Lakes Reserve; there are some pictures on the MGLG website https://mglg.org.uk/sitehistory.html

Hopefully your plants will survive this short cold period and we can soon enjoy the warming Spring weather, with the birds breeding and new migrants coming in. We had just begun to see the first Bee Flies and numerous butterflies but they will keep their heads down until the days warm up again.

I hope to see some of you on Sunday.
